In this bonus episode, Jim talks to Atilla, Kelsey, and Haley; three members of Oakland County Mutual Aid, a leftist organization focused on community outreach in the metro-Detroit area.
Atilla, Kelsey, and Haley and the rest of OCMA are taking on the task of organizing in one of the most hostile environments possible: the suburbs. Despite that, OCMA has not only spent time protesting the excesses of the state but they have also focused on community outreach and revolutionary education.
OCMA started mid-pandemic but continues to grow in an area where that used to seem impossible. These three early members of OCMA provide a real insight into how to reach fellow suburbanites and serve as an example that things are changing in the world of white flight.
Considering the constant evolution of activism, OCMA is providing some great examples of what leftists can do even when they’re surrounded and can serve as an example to others hoping to organize in the million other anytowns like those in Oakland County.
