In this episode, Jake and Jim speak with the UK delegate for the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) to discuss and dispel some misconceptions about the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea).
The KFA is an organization that promotes cultural exchanges and provides education on the DPRK to members in their respective countries. With this in mind, we asked Dermot to explain several overwhelming trends in the US including demonstrably fake news about the DPRK, the DPRK’s emphasis on self-defense, self-reliance, and anti-imperialism, and the future of western policy towards Pyongyang. Jake also asks several questions concerning the case of Otto Warmbier and the confusion around his return which serves as an example of how fraught US-DPRK relations truly are.
